Workshops "Handmade Jewellery" took place in Rzeszów in the days from 14 July to 21 July 2011.
15 participants came from 8 countries: Italy, Turkey, Estonia, France, Belgium, Latvia, Cyprus and Czech Republic. The main activities were focused on handmade jewellery of plastic mass and artistic clay in connection with all jeweller's accessories and various decorative details and fastenings. The participants created the jewellery in several stages: projects on the paper, models from the mass and clay, cutting out, creating final shapes, drying, polishing with the abrasive paper, painting, varnishing, joining all elements by the means of tools and jeweller's decorative elements. Workshop was led by 2 coaches.
Results: each participant made from 5 to 20 pieces of jewellery: necklaces, beads, ear-rings, bracelets, pendants, medallions from classic to very modern examples, from simple models to very difficult, in various colours, shapes.
The workshop created the opportunity to develop 3 main competencies of adult learning:
- PERSONAL (self-cognition, self-confidence, self-esteem, self-expression)
- EDUCATIONAL (creative thinking, flexibility of thinking, manual skills, lifelong learning habit)
- SOCIAL (communication and collaboration with people from different geographical zones, different culture and religion, team work, the awareness of being the European citizen)
Workshop activities were supported by other educational measures, such as: educational visits to The Ethnographical Museum in Rzeszów, where participants got to know the various models of jewellery from the previous ages and modern ones, educational visit to Wawel Castle in Kraków with the collection of royal jewellery, visit to Sukiennice Cloth Market in Kraków with the wonderful collection of amber jewellery, visit in Łańcut Castle with the collection of aristocratic valuables. Moreover, the multimedia presentation enriched cultural knowledge about Rzeszów, the collection of brochures, folders, promotional materials about Rzeszów, visit to underground route of Market Square in Rzeszów and sightseeing of the city fully covered participants’ interests in cultural aspects.
The workshops showed very large interest among participants and expressed their great satisfaction of all educational and logistic measures. Individual evaluation forms in the end of the workshop confirmed well-organized activities. VESUVIO NGO was awarded by the best marks given by participants.
